As part of LG’s (066570.KS) ‘Virtual CES Exhibit’ they revealed the details of a number of surveys they initiated concerning issues that influence display purchasers. Some were specific to types of displays (TVs, Monitors, and Notebooks) while others were more general. The one that drew our interest the most was “What are the most important factors when buying TV?” a topic of great importance in the CE space. While we were surprised to see image quality at the top of the list, since the survey was taken in part by LG, there might have been a bit of bias from responders toward quality over price, but that is just our assumption. If in fact picture quality was the top factor, we are impressed. In a secondary question set, consumers were asked what their ‘pain points’ were when watching TV for a long time. Some of the answers here were a bit harder to understand in context, while others were quite logical. “Difficult to use on the move” seemed counter to “Small screen size” and “Poor image quality/resolution” and “Colors in picture/image different from reality” were far lower than in the ‘buying criteria’ survey, so we wonder if the actual survey question wording might have had some influence on the answers but the results of both were interesting
