SFA Signs contract with Royale
SFA Engineering (056190.KS) has signed a contract to supply Royale (pvt) with OLED equipment valued at $53.6m US, extending through 12/09/2017. While specifics were not given, SFA specializes in OLED glass handling equipment and a number of deposition tools, including sputter, slit coater, and ink-jet printing. Royale is a US based company, backed by a number of venture funds (~$3b valuation), that has produced thin flexible displays, flexible sensors, and VR devices.
Royale is expanding its capacity, which we believe is current relatively small, by building a $1.7b production campus in Shenzhen, China, which is expected to begin operation in 3Q 2017 although full capacity is not expected to be reached until 2018 or beyond. We believe the new fab will be a Gen 5.5 flexible and rigid OLED line, with a maximum capacity of 45,000 sheets/month, but details remain sparse.
