- Samsung’s S25 ‘Edge’ model, a thin version of the Galaxy S25 does not seem to be selling as well as the company predicted. No hard data yet but if true it will make the idea of replacing next year’s Galaxy S26+ with an ‘edge’ device a bit more risky. The Galaxy Plus has been the weakest seller over the last few years, and the ‘Edge’ model was expected to boost overall S26 unit volumes. If consumers are not wowed by the ‘Edge’ product, Samsung will have to find another way to encourage consumers to loosen their wallets. ‘Edge’ has been reduced for this month to compensate.
- While expectations for TV panel prices were for a flat month in June, there seems to be a bit more of a consensus that TV panel prices will decline rather than remain flat this month. Full data will be out in a few days, but early data suggests that TV panel prices are weakening as demand weakens and tariff pull-ins lessen with each postponement.
- Speaking of reductions, it seems that while Samsung has increased the number of foldables it is producing for the US this month from 400,000 to 600,000 units in anticipation of a potential tariff squeeze, it has lowered it overall foldable production plan for June from 1.34m units to 930,000 according to local sources. July is expected to be the peak for foldable production for this year.
