Pre-Prime DaySpeaking of large TV sets, in anticipation of Prime Day (7/8 to 7/11) we checked to see if other retailers, in this case Amazon (AMZN) had begun any unusual promotions. While the site quotes discounts for many of these sets, most are at the same price they were when we checked last, about 10 days ago. The discounts being shown on the site are the current price against the original list price, which is typically the highest price the set ever sees. Much of the LG 70”+ inventory is relatively old, with only 2 models from 2024 and the remainder older, while much but not all of the Samsung inventory is 2025. We note that while price and price/in2 are important metrics we use to value products, we note that the feature sets for each of these models are different and should be evaluated in conjunction with other metrics.
