- Samsung Display (pvt), currently building out its A6 Gen 8.6 IT OLED fab, has added a dedicated IT sales team to the existing development and technology teams associated with the fab, which is expected to begin production next year after producing samples later this year. At least for now, the head of SDC’s large panel division will also be the head of the IT OLED division, which will be focused on providing Apple with OLED displays for the MacBook and similar products as Apple continues to transition from LCD to OLED across its product line. The addition of the dedicated sales force would indicate that SDC is getting prepared for sample production where devices are prepared on the new lines and then sent to customers for evaluation, making the sales force a necessary addition.
- The Korean Supreme Court officially confirmed the innocence of Samsung Electronics (005930.KS)) chairman Lee Jae-yong after almost 5 years. Lee was charged back in 2020 concerning the merger of Samsung C&T (028260.KS) and Cheil Industries (pvt). The prosecution’s appeal was dismissed as the court indicated there were no error in the original judgement or legal procedures. The remaining 13 defendants were also found not guilty. We believe this exhausts all avenues for further appeals.
