AirPods Weak? A Japanese trade rag has indicated that Apple (AAPL) has reduced its planned production volumes for its AirPod earphones as competition has weakened sales. According to ‘sources’ the initial production volume was to be 110m units, which will now ve reduced to between 75 and 85m units. This is unconfirmed by Apple, at least publicly. We note that the information did not specify whether the reduced expectations included Apple’s Air Pod Max (over-the-ear) headset, which was released in December of last year, or whether it was limited to standard AirPods.
